Quality Control
All our raw materials are sourced from highly reputed companies and of very high quality. These raw material goes through stringent quality checks in our QC lab and then approved for use in production.
During production, all operations like resin mixing, winding, curing, are monitored and recording of raw material data are carried out as per In-process inspection plan which provides complete traceability for each pipe or fitting produced in Smithline.
On finish pipes & fittings, routine QC tests according to applicable standards are carried out.
Thus, Smithline pipes are having consistent quality across all range of our products.
Smithline has well equipped quality control laboratory to conduct various tests like:
- Axial Tensile strength Test as per ASTM D638
- Hoop Tensile Strength test as per ASTM D2990
- Beam Strength test as per ASTM D3517
- Flexural strength test ASTM D790
- Stiffness Test as per ASTM D2412
- Glass Transition Temperature test by Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) method as per ASTM D3418
- Curing – Barcol Hardness Test as per ASTM D2583
- Loss On ignition test as per ASTM D2584
- Pipe & Fittings hydrostatic pressure test as per applicable standards
- Resin Viscosity test by Brookfield Viscometer,
- Resin Gel Time & Gel Peak exothermic Temperature tests as per ASTM D2471
- Chemical resistance tests as per ASTM C581
- Strain measurements using strain gauges
- Manhole load test as per EN124:2015
- Moister test on glass fibers as per ISO 3344
- Water Absorption on GRP / GRE pipes as per ASTM D570
- Vacuum pressure test
- Optical instrument to measure pipe liner thickness,

Our pipes & fittings are complying to the international standards like AWWA C950, ASTM D3517, ASTM D3262, ASTM D3754, ASTM D2996, ISO 14692, BS EN 1796, BS EN 14364, and many more.
Our Pipes & fittings are approved by government organizations like ADM, ADSSC, DM, DEWA, SEWA, FEWA, MOID, etc. Also, almost all leading consultants have approved our pipes & fittings.
Supplied pipes are performing satisfactorily for the past 14 years in various projects in UAE and middle east.
Smithline designed & developed and manufacturing GRP manhole covers & frames, GRP manholes from 2013. Smithline is the first company to manufacture GRP manholes covers in United Arab Emirates. Our GRP covers & frames are approved by DEWA, Etisalat, SEWA, ADM, RAKWA, and also approved in QATAR & Oman. More than 50,000 covers are installed all over UAE, QATAR, OMAN.
Smithline GRP Covers & frames are manufactured to BS EN124 and load tested according to load class. We produce D400, C250 and B125 class covers & frames.
Smithline GRP covers are designed with various options like hinged, locked, watertight, with / without sealing plates, blinded keyholes.
Smithline GRP covers & frames are Eco friendly; carbon footprint is 50% less than ductile iron covers and 25% lighter than steel covers. Since these covers are locally made, it meets Estidama requirements and it is sustainable & environmentally green product.
SmithlineGRP manhole cover has distinct advantages like good corrosion, chemical resistance, weather resistance, light weight, die-electric, no interference with radio frequency signals; thus suitable for WiFimetering chambers, Zero maintenance, no need of coating / painting, any color with custom design is easily produced, durable and has design life of 50 years minimum.
Smithline has a dedicated division for manufacturing of insulation foams of PUR and phenolic types. We manufacture pipe insulations and panel type insulations. Our insulation is class ‘O’, CFC & HCFC free. The manufacture insulation of various densities from 35 kg/m2 to 140 kg/m2 as per client requirements.
Smithline foam insulation is used for:
- Pipe insulation for chilled water piping
- Duct, Roof, Wall insulation
- HDPE pipe insulation
- Vessel & Tank insulation
- Foam blocks / special shapes for molding purposes
